Opening Ceremony 5 June 2010

The week long POPS comp started with an opening ceremony in Reggio's town square. Local Minister for Tourism Mario Del Bue offically welcomed about 250 skydivers from various countries. Local Italian skydivers from the host drop zone BFU then parachuted into the square and thrilled everyone with their landing accuracy.

After the ceremony in town skydivers were taken back to the drop zone - and then it was party time! The locals treated us to a taste of their famous parmesan cheese (yes, they make it here!), tasty spinach and cheese pastries and of course lots of on tap beer!
"Top POP" (head of the POPs skydivers internationally) in attendance was Lamberto Scrrenelli. Our own Aussie Ex Top Pops Ian Robertson, aged 63, proudly held the Aussie flag today.
